David W. Menefee gained twenty-five years of experience as a contributing writer and marketing representative for the Dallas Times Herald and the Dallas Morning News before his first book was published. Sarah Bernhardt: In the Theater, Film and Sound Recordings (McFarland 2003), is the first-ever, in-depth exploration of the work of the world’s greatest actress in films and recordings. His second published book, The First Female Stars: Women of the Silent Era (Greenwood/Praeger 2004), received outstanding reviews, and his third work, The First Male Stars: Men of the Silent Era, is publishing in October 2007 (Bear Manor Media).
David has served at Brown Books Publishing Group as Editor on Sonnets by Robert Brown, Slaves to Medicine by Dr. George Beauchamp, M.D., and Downtown Dallas: Romantic Past, Modern Rennaissance.
He has recently completed a richly researched biography of George O’Brien, which will soon be published by Infonet Publishing. He has also completed a biography of actor Richard Barthelmess, and his in-depth biography of actor Lou-Tellegen, the first actor from The Netherlands to reach international film stardom, will soon be published in The Netherlands in Dutch. His nonfiction works include The Remarkable Mr. Messing, Brothers of the Storm, and several mystery novels.
In 2005, he collaborated with Richard J. Maturi, on a screenplay, Triple Crown. He is currently working in collaboration with Richard Davis on a Lilian Hall-Davis: The English Rose, a biography of Britain’s famous silent film star. David lives in Dallas, Texas, USA.
